Books
Under Construction
Non-fiction
- Thinking, Fast and Slow (Daniel Kahnemann, 2011) - The book is a blast. Among other things, it deals with various cognitive biases in human thinking and shows that our economic system and the way we make decisions is not rational.
Novels
- Mr. Penumbra's 24-Hour Bookstore (Robin Sloan, 2012)
Fantasy
- Forgotten Realms, Volume 1: The Crystal Shard (Book 1 and 2) (R.A. Salvatore, 1991)
- The Wheel of Time - The Eye Of The World (Robert Jordan, 2003 in Germany)
The Dark Eye (German)
I'm a big fan of the old DSA novels. They allow you to immerse yourself in the world of Aventuria without the epic scale of some other fantasy series. I'm always happy when I can buy a new part second-hand or find it on a book swap shelf. But I'm also reading the even younger Phileasson saga, which has a real highlight in Himmelsturm.
- Im Farindelwald - Die Reise nach Salza 1. Teil (Ina Kramer, 1996)
- Der Lichtvogel - Elementare Gewalten 1. Teil (Hadmar von Wieser, 1997)
- Erde und Eis - Elementare Gewalten 2. Teil (Hadmar von Wieser, 2000)
- Treibgut (Karl-Heinz Witzko, 1996)
- Der Schwertmeister (Hadmar von Wieser, 1998)
- Der Dämonenmeister (Hadmar von Wieser, 1999)
- Seelenwanderer (Barbara Büchner, 1999)
- Die letzte Kaiserin (Daniel Jödemann, 2009)
- Der erste Kaiser (Daniel Jödemann, 2009)
- Die Phileasson Saga - Nordwärts (Bernhard Hennen & Robert Corvus, 2016)
- Die Phileasson-Saga - Himmelsturm (Bernhard Hennen & Robert Corvus, 2016) - By far the best part I've read so far. The atmosphere is right, you dive deep into the history of Aventurien and it's exciting.
- Die Phileasson-Saga - Die Wölfin (Bernhard Hennen & Robert Corvus, 2016)
- Die Phileasson-Saga - Silberflamme (Bernhard Hennen & Robert Corvus, 2017)
- Die Phileasson-Saga - Schlangengrab (Bernhard Hennen & Robert Corvus, 2018)
Science Fiction
- The Municipalists (Seth Fried, 2019)
Star Wars
When it comes to Star Wars novels, I particularly appreciate the earlier books, as Star Wars still had a soul at that time. The Thrawn trilogy in particular is still absolutely worth reading today.
